What If?

What if I'm tired of things being the same all the time? But I'm not sure I'm ready to ask for help...

Redefining: A perspective on what it really means to start a season of 3D therapy.

It's an understandable to feel anxious about starting any kind of new experience whether a new job, working with a new practitioner, or anything you're unfamiliar with. What if you are feeling apprehension about the idea of getting help with an area you’re “stuck” in?

First, we’ll look at 2 common myths people believe-- that should be gotten rid of!

Then, I’ll share 6 valuable insights my clients often discover.

·      Myth #1 : I must be broken in some core part of me; that’s why I have apprehension about having to ask for help. Sometimes feelings of overwhelm  tell me I’m an imposter or “less than” everyone else.

o    The truth: There are extremely valuable insights that can be gained by getting an outside perspective. Most people feel like they have “given in” to their challenges by asking for help;  but deciding that you want wholeness for yourself is actually a sign that part of you is determined to find the support that you need to move forward. This is a signal that it is time to stop ignoring the situation and take the first step (asking for help) toward real change.

·      Myth #2 : Coming in for a season of therapy means that I am weak. I feel ashamed of myself and want to keep it a secret.

o   The truth: Coming for therapy sessions is actually an indication that the good, right and strong part of you knows there’s a way through the situation you are in.  Of course, our sessions are kept in confidence, but it should be noted that most people struggle with challenges from time to time. The type of issues that are indicated with 3D therapy are so common that I often have experienced (and successfully worked through)the same types of  battles, too.

6 valuable insights my clients often discover:

Although 3D therapy does not provide a formal assessment or diagnosis, my clients are very often pleasantly surprised by game-changing insights they discover as we work together. Here are a few of the most common experiences:

1.        Most of my clients find that expressing their thoughts and mindsets helps them feel understood and validated. By getting an outside perspective, it helps to gain a different context of their experiences and makes it easier to stop judging themselves so harshly.

2.        Most thought processes make sense in light of the experiences you've lived through. For example, if you've experienced the grief of a sudden loss of a loved one, you might feel anxious about another loved ones’ health. This new perspective on “why” you developed patterns helps you to let them go as unnecessary in your current situation. These insights are like treasures within you that you didn’t know you already had.

3.        Another discovery might be that the resilience that has brought you this far is available to tap into as a source of strength to help you move into more restoration. This ah-ha can be very helpful to see yourself as strong and determined.

4.        The truth is that part of yourself refuses to continue to accept the struggles as permanent – this can be an incredibly empowering insight. Growing beyond the strategy of ignoring issues and sweeping them under the rug is the first step in becoming healthy.

5.        Learning to recognize past patterns left over from a difficult situation empowers you to work towards permanent change. Think of the warning lights on the dashboard of your car. When they are working properly, they will inform you of things that need to be addressed before major damage happens. Recognizing habits and triggers as “warning lights” is a good sign that your body, soul, and your spirit are working together correctly.

6.        The willingness to be honest and value yourself enough to get help is an indicator that the healing process has already begun. Willingness to take a closer look at what's really going on with physical and external symptoms, habits and triggers empowers you to gain new tools and skills.

Let these truths bring you a new level of optimism to propel you toward an opportunity for transformation.
